Adoption Term
To become an adopter, you must sign the Adoption Term with the managing body of the conservation unit where the section is located. Click the links below to learn about the terms:
Know the responsibilities of an adopter
By signing the adoption term for a section, the adopter is responsible for carrying out periodic maintenance actions (ideally at least once a month), which include:
- Checking the signage, replacing missing arrows and footprints
- Clearing the trail whenever there are branches or fallen trees blocking the path
- Removing any trash from the trail bed
- Conducting educational approaches with visitors.
Depending on the number of volunteers each adopter has in their group, maintenance actions can be weekly or even daily on the section. For example, with eight volunteers, it is possible to divide them into four pairs, each doing one action per weekend each month; with sixteen volunteers, you can have eight pairs and do one action every Saturday and Sunday; and with sixty volunteers, it is possible to do one action per day.
In addition to trail maintenance work, the adopter must also be attentive to responding to comments and complaints from users made in the form "Want to help on this section or report problems (management, vandalism of signs, graffiti, lack of signage, obstruction, trash, among others)?" at the end of each section on the Transcarioca Trail website.
New volunteers and new adopters are always welcome. Choose the section where you want to help and contact the person in charge by reaching out to the General Coordination of the Transcarioca Trail Movement on the Facebook page.
